The association of patients and family members of fibromyalgia of San Pedro del Pinatar, ASENFIFA, adds to the activities developed at international level, to give visibility and support to this ailment that affects more than 6% of the world population.
The ASENFIFA association from Pinar del Rio has set up an information table today in the Plaza de la Constitución, adding to the activities of the International Day of Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue, which is celebrated on May 12.
The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitation Martinez, and the councilor of Civic Participation, Fuensanta García, accompanied this morning some of the members of this association, founded in 2009 and composed of more than forty women suffering from this ailment .
Visitación Martínez has highlighted the work carried out by this group, and has reaffirmed that the City Council supports the projects and initiatives of socio-health associations.
Thus, 2,586 euros of aid are allocated to ASENFIFA for the "Hydrotherapy and aquatic physiotherapy for fibromyalgia patients" program.
The representative of this association, Conchi García, thanked the City Council for its support and highlighted the benefits of programs such as hydrotherapy that help prevent pain and gain mobility.
In addition, he insisted on the need to visualize this chronic disease, since his symptoms do not manifest at first sight but affect the day to day of those who suffer from it, as it is characterized by generalized musculoskeletal pain with an exaggerated hypersensitivity in a multitude of defined points. in the whole body.
The association has announced at the information table installed in the Plaza de la Constitución the activities carried out in the municipality, in addition to answering the most frequent questions of people suffering from this type of pathologies.
They have also put on sale several articles of craftsmanship to add to the financing of these activities.
