The modernization and accessibility works of the urban center of San Pedro del Pinatar begin (04/09/2018)

The project, which has a budget of 1.7 million euros, aims to improve accessibility and the image of the commercial core of the town, through a comprehensive reform of the squares of the Constitution and Spain, adjacent streets and the central sections of the avenues Emilio Castelar and Artero Guirao.

In addition to the technical staff of the drafting team, TOB Arquitectura and Consulest Servicios Integrales, and the company awarded the works, Ferrovial, today visited the area of ​​execution of the Modernization and Accessibility project of the urban center.

The works of this project, which has a budget of 1.7 million euros and a term of execution of four months, will begin this week and have as their purpose the integral reform of the squares of Spain and the Constitution, the surrounding streets, and the avenues Emilio Castelar and Artero Guirao in their central sections, with the aim of converting them into a more accessible, modern space adapted to the needs of both the commerce and the residents of the town, the mayor explained.

After holding an informative meeting with traders and residents of the area, the mayor has indicated that the works will begin this week in Emilio Castelar street and that the work will be carried out in a sequential manner, so that they affect the activity as little as possible. of these routes and so that the project will be completely finished in January 2019.

During the execution period, an information point will be made available to the citizens in the parking lot attached to the Plaza de la Constitución, so that neighbors and traders can know in detail the actions that are being undertaken.

"With this action we want to eliminate architectural barriers, modernize and beautify the commercial heart of the municipality, making it a more accessible and attractive space," said the mayor.

This project contemplates the creation of a restricted traffic and pedestrian area formed by the existing space between the Plaza de España and the Constitution, with the Barón de Benifayó and Emilio Castelar streets, a set of nearby streets, with a marked commercial character, and the central stretch of Avenida Artero Guirao.

Borja Piqueras, from the editorial team, explained that the project includes three execution units, the first of which is constituted by the squares of Spain and the Constitution, which will be completely renovated with a new pavement, trees and children's play areas, in addition to Vertical and horizontal LED lighting, creating a luminous tapestry that gives a "unique character" to this space during the night.

This unit also includes the surrounding streets, such as Cabanellas, Gabriel Cañadas and San Antonio, where a unique cobblestone platform will be available.

Another one of the units of action will be developed in the streets Emilio Castelar, Lorenzo Morales and perpendicular;

and the third affects the Artero Guirao avenue, where the central roadway is maintained, the width of the sidewalks is maximized, obstacles are eliminated and the lighting and street furniture will be completely renewed.

Piqueras has indicated that the works will also include replenishment of sanitation and installation of services, and that will begin with the three phases between the months of September and October, acting by sections and facilitating both pedestrian access and road traffic to the area.
