San Pedro del Pinatar joins the campaign "Recycle Glass for Them" on the occasion of World Breast Cancer Day (15/10/2018)

Ecovidrio and the city council of San Pedro del Pinatar have presented this campaign today along with representatives of the Spanish Association Against Cancer and the CBS team of drangoboat Flamenco Rosa.

The Councilor for the Environment, Pedro Javier Sánchez, the area manager of Ecovidrio, Roberto Fuentes, the president of the local board of the AECC, Hilario Tárraga, and the Flamenco Rosa team, made up of women from Pinar del Rio who have overcome breast cancer , have presented today the "Recycle glass for them" campaign in the municipality.

Thus, until October 30, two pink igloos have been installed at the intersection of Avenida de Las Salinas with Emilio Castelar and, during these days, for every kilo of glass deposited in these containers Ecovidrio will donate one euro to the Foundation Sandra Ibarra of Solidarity Against Cancer, to contribute to the prevention, information and awareness of this disease.

Ecovidrio launches for the third consecutive year this initiative that aims to mobilize citizens to recycle glass containers and thus contribute to a cause of solidarity and fight against breast cancer.

On this occasion, the campaign has been extended to more than 60 cities throughout the national territory, with the installation of 250 containers.

In addition, for the third consecutive year the entity has had Sandra Ibarra, director of the Sandra Ibarra Foundation of Solidarity Against Cancer as ambassador of the project.

During the event, the Flamenco Rosa team was given a miniglú designed by Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada, as a symbol of awareness and solidarity with breast cancer, which can be acquired through the web miniglú.es and whose benefits are also destined to the Sandra Ibarra Foundation for Solidarity Against Cancer.

RECYCLING OF GLASS IN SAN PEDRO DEL PINATAR

According to the latest data for 2017, the Pinatareneses recycled a total of 449 tons of glass, which means that each inhabitant recycled an average of 18kg.

Regarding the rate of containerization, San Pedro del Pinatar is located with an average of 175 inhabitants per container, with a total of 142 igloos for glass packaging waste installed.
