The III Pinatarense Sports Awards extol the dedication of athletes, clubs and local collectives (17/03/2019)

Hundreds of people followed last Saturday, March 16, this act in the new auxiliary pavilion of the Municipal Sports Center in which, among other prizes, the best athlete was proclaimed the canoeist Francisco Luengo Alarcón and best female athlete the squash player Cristina Gómez Jiménez.

San Pedro del Pinatar held on Saturday, March 19, the third edition of the Pinatarense Sports Awards, some awards that are held biennially with the aim of highlighting the work and dedication of clubs, sports schools, associations and individual athletes of the locality that daily struggle to achieve their goals.

The mayor, Visitación Martínez, praised the opening of the effort of local athletes, as well as all those who work daily to promote and extend the practice of sports.

He also highlighted the "good shape of the sport of Pinar del Rio, as reflected in the more than 2,000 people who annually make use of sports facilities or the 8,000 who participate in sports events organized by the Department of Sports."

In these awards, the local sports associations actively participate, proposing the candidates and a professional jury is in charge of failing the winners.

In this edition has been formed by the president of the Handball Federation of the Region of Murcia, Daniel Santos;

the president of the regional volleyball federation, Pepe Valera;

the head of the Sports section of the newspaper La Opinión, Dioni García;

the technician of the Department of Sports of Los Alcázares, María Dolores Fernández, and the head of Sports Services of Torre Pacheco, Rafael Alcáraz.

The performances of acrobatic dance Flip Flap, the Rhythmic and Aesthetic Club Pinatar and Kebanna ballet entertained this gala in which were present, among others, the General Director of Community Sports, Alonso Gómez, councilors of bordering municipalities, representatives of clubs and local associations, etc.

List of winners and mentions:

(Prize to the best athlete.- Francisco Luengo Alarcón: Canoeist of the Pinatarense Sports Association, senior champion in C1 5000 meters in the regional championship of 2017, third in C1 200 meters senior in the Spanish Cup and the Spanish Sprint Olympic Championship in 2017, champion in C1 5000 meters in the Autonomous Regatta City of Murcia 2018 and four in the championship of Spain C1 200 meters of Verducio.

(Prize to the best athlete. - Cristina Gómez Jiménez: Squash player of the San Pedro Sports Center, in 2017 she was champion of Spain absolute and sub19, European champion sub 19 and European sub-champion of national teams sub 19. In 2018 she revalidated her title as champion of Spain, in addition to obtaining the Spanish Cup and qualifying in sixth place in the absolute individual European championship.

Women's Kayak Polo team of the AD Pinatarense: Champions of the national league of Kayak Polo and of the Spanish championship of clubs in 2017 and 2018, and novenas in the European Championship of clubs 2018.

(Prize to the best athlete up to 16 years old.- Pablo Francisco Sánchez Palacios: Canoeist of the School of Canoeing Mar Menor, champion cadet k1 in the autonomic league 2017, bronze K1 cadet in 1,000 meters in the Spanish Cup of Young Promises in 2017, K1 silver in the Spanish Cup 1,000 meters Young Promised 2018 and qualified for the Youth Olympics after finishing second in Europe and third in the world in the pre-Olympic Casteldefells.

(Award to the best veteran sportsman. - Daniel Ruiz Cegarra: Canoeist of the School of Canoeing Mar Menor, in 2017 he was third in the regional league veterans k1 and in 2018 he won the bronze K2 1000 meters in the world championship of Portugal and silver in K2 sprinter-surfsky senior in the Ocian Racing Eurochallenge World Cup.

(Award to the Disabled Athlete.- María Antón Agut: Athlete of the Aidemar sports club, in 2017 she won silver in 800 meters in the FEDDI Spanish Athletics Championship and gold in the unified regional cross-country championship FEDEMIPS and in 2018 she won gold in 800 meters in the Spanish FEDDI athletics championship and silver in the unified regional cross FEDEMIPS.

(Prize to the Sporting Gestation.- Adrián Gracia García: Sub-champion of Europe U15 with the Spanish team of Squash in Malmoe, being the number one of the selection and disputing all the matches.

(Prize to the most outstanding sporting event.- X Marina Salinas Regional Triathlon: Organized by the club 30 7 40, celebrated its tenth edition as a test of the regional triathlon league and regional sprint triathlon championship with 268 participants, consolidating as one of the tests with greater participation of Murcian triathletes.

(Mention to the work in favor of the promotion and sports practice. - Aidemar Day Center San Pedro del Pinatar: Reference center in the Region of Murcia in favor of the promotion and practice of adapted sport, with the participation of more than 90 athletes in the special school games of the Region in the years 2017 and 2018 in the different sports modalities.

(Mention to the trajectory of dedication to the sport pinatarense.- José Castejón Soto: Known as 'Pepe El Teniente' was one of the promoters of futsal at the regional level, founder of sports schools of Futsal and Club Decasport Salazones Diego, that he would be promoted to the División de Honor, organizer of one of the first local leagues at the Regional Futsal level, with 40 teams and prestigious summer tournaments with leading figures in this sport, to which he dedicated more than thirty years.

Special Mentions:

(Special mention 30 anniversary. - Pinatar base football school: For its excellent training and sports work since its founding in 1987, having completed 30 years in 2017 and currently has more than 300 athletes and all its teams in the highest regional category.

José María Molina: Salt football referee, sports correspondent of the newspaper La Opinion and the local newspaper and coordinator of the arbitrations of the local futsal league in his last years of dedication to the sport of Pinar del Rio.

Jesús Ramón Navarro Puchol: Renowned soccer player in El Pinatar, Mar Menor and Torrevieja;

between 2011 and 2015 he assumed the presidency of the Pinatar Baseball School, providing sport and social stability to the entity.

(Special mention to the sports center.- CBM Maspalomas: School recognized for its involvement in the various sports promotion campaigns that take place in the municipality, its participation in the School Age Sports program and the organization of sports days with reason for the Olympic years.

(Special mention to the overcoming through Sport. - Club Deportivo Aidemar: Association active since 1982, for its dedication and good work with people with intellectual disabilities and the promotion of inclusive and adapted sport.

(Special mention to sports sponsorship. - Marina de las Salinas Marina: Due to the predisposition and collaboration with the City of San Pedro del Pinatar and the Department of Sports in the organization of sporting events such as the Sprint Triathlon, Correlimos or Full Moon Race.

(Special Mention to the Media.- La Opinión de Murcia: For the coverage it makes of sports events held in San Pedro del Pinatar, municipal initiative or by other local sports entities, giving visibility to the good work of the sport of Pinar del Rio.
