San Pedro del Pinatar celebrates Palm Sunday with the procession of Las Palmas and Jesus Triunfante (14/04/2019)

The procession of Las Palmas and Jesus Triunfante brought together hundreds of faithful who, after the blessing of their palms, accompanied the image of Jesus on the back of the borrica from the temple of St. Peter the Apostle to the church of the Holy Trinity.

The morning procession of Palm Sunday once again filled the streets of San Pedro del Pinatar, this year with the image of Jesus Triumphant as a novelty, thus integrating both processions.

After the blessing of the palms and olive branches in front of the church of San Pedro Apóstol, in the Plaza de la Constitución, the hundreds of faithful went to the Church of the Holy Trinity, where the Mass of Las Palmas was celebrated. Eucharist where the Passion is read complete.

The third of horns and drums of the Cristo del Perdón would be the processional cortege, followed by the children's third of La Piadosa Verónica and San Juan, dressed in Samaritans, the third of drums of San Juan Evangelista and a representation of all the brotherhoods that make up the Cabildo of the Holy Week.

The beautiful carving of Ramón Cuenca, which shows Jesus on the back of an equestrian, belonging to the brotherhood of San Juan, closed the parade, followed by the official retinue;

Among them were the parish priest of the town, the mayor, Visitación Martínez, the employment counselor, Javier Celdrán, members of the municipal corporation or the justice of the peace, among others;

and hundreds of neighbors, who carried the traditional palms and olive branches.
