The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitación Martínez, accompanied by the Vice President of the Murcian Canoe Federation, Nicolás López, Sebastián Espín member of the board of directors of the Spanish Association of Dragon Boat AEDB, Rosana Ayala member of the Board of Directors of the Pinatarense Sports Association and Pedro Javier Sánchez President of Aidemar Sports Club, attended yesterday the presentation of the first Dragon Boat team inclusive of the Murcia Region of the Aidemar Sports Club and the Pinatarense Sports Association.
Thus, in the Club Náutico de Lo Pagan, the first inclusive regional team of Dragon Boat was presented, organized by the Pinatarense Sports Association and AIDEMAR Sports Club where, 50% of the participants are people with some type of intellectual disability and that Its next goal is to participate in the European Club Crew Championship in Seville at the end of July.
Since last January, the team trains every Thursday and Saturday in the waters of the Mar Menor, based in the sailing club of Lo Pagan, with the aim of preparing the 18 European Championship for clubs to be held in Seville where it will be the only inclusive dragon boat whose members have intellectual disabilities.
The dragon boat is a team sport, where all members of the team have to paddle in the same conditions where coordination and mutual support are fundamental and meets all the conditions to promote Inclusion.
