The Youth Correspondents program brings together more than 150 volunteers in San Pedro del Pinatar (16/11/2019)

This initiative, which is celebrating its twelfth edition, aims to disseminate youth activities and calls and detect the demands of young people

The Youth Correspondents program today brought together more than 150 volunteers in San Pedro del Pinatar who will participate in it during the 2019-2020 school year and that will reach about 80 educational centers in the Region.

This program, which is celebrating its twelfth edition, will gather the concerns and preferences of young people, as well as inform and disseminate the social, economic and cultural resources that, in terms of Youth, are available in the region.

The Minister of Tourism, Youth and Sports, Cristina Sánchez, welcomed the young volunteers who will participate in the program and thanked her work for being the link between young people and the Administration "detecting, collecting and transmitting their demands ", said.

The program began a month ago with the campaign to recruit volunteers 'Correspondent is sought'.

Correspondents are selected in a coordinated manner between the educational center, with a tutor, and the municipal information service.

As a general rule, there are two youth correspondents per school.

So far, 108 correspondents from 40 centers, 14 technicians from 23 municipalities and 12 tutors are registered.

The counselor stressed that this initiative "reinforces the importance of information and counseling services, based on interpersonal communication between young people."

Requirements to be a correspondent

To be a youth correspondent, you must be enrolled in one of the centers participating in the program.

In addition, it is necessary to have availability to devote sufficient time to the development of this work, which consists of collecting the information provided weekly and attending courses, workshops, training sessions and exchanges and coordination meetings.

Likewise, the correspondent must show communication skills.

Those interested can register at their educational center or at the Informajoven offices in their municipality.

This program, Cristina Sánchez added, "improves the decision-making and participation of young people, while fostering a more agile, close and effective way for the information they are interested in to reach through other young people."

"We promote education in values, the equality of all young people, they reside where they reside, as well as the citizen participation of volunteer students and their involvement in the development of the Region," he concluded.
