The Popular University forms monitors to promote the integration of young people with disabilities (09/11/2016)

This training activity, which has the collaboration of the Ministry of Culture, through the General Directorate of Youth;

Will be developed until next December.

The Councilor for Education and Training of San Pedro del Pinatar, Guadalupe García, along with Youth Councilor Javier Castejón and the Director General of Youth of the Autonomous Community, Francisco Sánchez, inaugurated yesterday the course "Strategies of intervention in the field of Leisure and free time with children and young people with disabilities ".

The mayor of Education explained that this action is included in the training offered by the Popular University for the course 2016-2017, which includes more than 50 courses aimed, in large part, to training for employment.

Likewise, he indicated that among the novelties of this year this course is included and others of the same family, like monitor of dining room and of school transport, that aim to complete the formation of monitors of leisure and free time.

For his part, Sánchez said that this training activity, which imparts the School of Animation and Education in Leisure Cultural Habitat at the Instituto Tárraga Escribano, "aims to contribute to the process of normalization and real and effective integration of minors with any Type of intellectual or physical disability in leisure activities ".

He added that thanks to this course, "free time monitors are trained and learn the resources and tools to work with children and young people to meet their special needs from the perspective of integration and the enhancement of their personal resources."

The monographic course will run until December 13 and is aimed primarily at free time monitors, socio-cultural animators, students of educational and social areas, volunteers and other groups interested in these areas of learning.

The classes will begin with a theoretical block in which standardized knowledge and criteria will be added, common languages ​​in multidisciplinary contexts that contribute to a better understanding of the reality of these people and their needs.

With regard to the practical part, the participants will be provided with tools to enable disabled people to work on the basis of standardization, taking into account difficulties that may arise, while minimizing their effects on the potential of leisure time, culture, art and relationships.
