The storm tank of San Pedro del Pinatar will be finished in March 2017 (30/12/2016)

The Ministry of Water, Agriculture and the Environment is planning to conclude the storm tank works in San Pedro del Pinatar in March 2017. Water director Andrés Martínez visited today the evolution of the construction works of the reservoir Of lamination, located in the avenue of the park José Luis de los Ríos Martínez.

The total investment of the action is 1,264,913 euros.

Martinez said that "the objective of the actions, which are part of the zero-spill plan to the Mar Menor, is the collection and storage of rainwater, avoiding the drag of runoff to the beaches and the waters of the lagoon in Lo Pagan and Santiago de la Ribera, as well as the flood of buildings by the surface runoff of the causeways.

The works comprise the construction of a main collector of 455 meters in length and of diameters 600 and 800 millimeters, which reaches a chest where it joins the existing general collector of 1,000 millimeters.

From this chest comes the final section of the main manifold of 238 meters of pipe 1,200 mm in diameter.

A secondary manifold, 230 meters long and 500 millimeters in diameter, has also been designed to collect the waters south of the storm tank.

Both collectors will join to reach the storm chest of sand entering the storm tank.

The deposit consists of a reinforced concrete vessel, projected with screen walls, with a rectangular plan of 39.40 by 22.10 meters and 5.50 meters deep, covered with a slab likewise of reinforced concrete.

It has two symmetrical modules and each is divided, in turn, into three equal modules of 6.67 meters wide and 18.88 meters long.

The total useful volume of the tank is about 3,400 cubic meters of water.

In each module will be installed a submersible pump ejector for cleaning the tank of 9 kilowatts of power.

The water outlet spill has been projected onto the wall, which will only work when the storm exceeds the tank filling forecasts.

Of this part a pipe of 800 mm of diameter of PVC and of 136 meters of length that discharge in a well of registry of the existing general collector of 1000 millimeters.

The emptying of the tank will be carried out by means of two 1.3-kilowatt pumps housed in the modules, which carry the water through a 90-meter-long pipe, 400 mm in diameter to the wastewater network, once the storm.

The project also includes the electrical installations necessary for the correct functioning, scuppers of surface water catchment, as well as the gardening and urbanization of the plot and the replacement of the affected services.
