Farruquito, Miguel de Tena and Pedro el Granaíno remember Camarón on the 25th anniversary of his death (14/03/2017)

The XXII Flamenco Festival of San Pedro del Pinatar, a tribute to Camarón de la Isla, will gather on July 8th this great cast of artists in the park of La Aduana.

The councilor of Culture of the City of San Pedro del Pinatar, Silvia Egea, and the flamenco entrepreneur and promoter of the festival, Antonio Montoya, today presented the twenty second edition of the Flamenco Festival of San Pedro del Pinatar, in memory of José Monge "Camarón Of the Island, "to be held on 8 July, in the Park of the Customs.

Silvia Egea recalled that the festival was born on the initiative of the Cultural Collective Duna, by Federico Martínez Pastor "Filico", to honor Camarón de La Isla and later joined the Gypsy collective of the Association ROON, which together with The City Council promoted this event, which has seen great figures such as José Merce, Vicente Amigo, Niña Pastori, Sara Baras, Miguel Poveda, La Macanita, Chano Lobato, and Pitingo among many others.

After a break of three years, in 2014 the festival was resumed with force, consolidating itself as reference of the flamenco at regional level and opening the summer calendar of festivals of this sort in the region.

In this twenty-second edition the festival recalls the essence of the cantaor of San Fernando on the 25th anniversary of his death with the performances of bailaor Farruquito, an internationally recognized artist, who will present his show "Improvisao", and singers Pedro El Granaíno and Miguel de Tena.

Antonio Montoya has influenced the figure of Farruquito as the greatest exponent of the current flamenco dance, which has followed an upward trajectory, in which he has been able to incorporate new proposals such as the show "Improvisao", which will bring to the park of La Aduana, and with the Which guarantees that two equal nights are not repeated.

"Farruquito is the current artist who occupies the place of Camarón in the heart of the passion for flamenco," said the promoter of the festival.

The bailaor will perform accompanied on stage by Pepe de Pura, Antonio Villar and Mary Vizarraga to the cante, Raúl Vicenti to the guitar and Anonio Moreno to the percussion.

As Miguel de Tena, who has many awards with the La Unión Mining Lamp and Lo Ferro Gold Melon and will perform alongside guitarist Manuel Herrera, Montoya has highlighted that "it has been consummate as a virtuoso in the execution Of cantes, something that demonstrates the many followers that treasures.

As a counterpoint to this style of singing, the poster is completed with Pedro El Granaíno, winner at the Bienal de Sevilla in 2016, a follower of the shrimp school but with his own personality, which will be accompanied by Antonio Patrocinio Filho.

Tickets for the festival will go on sale in the coming days at a price of 20 euros in advance and 22 at the box office, can be purchased through ticketmaster, El Corte Inglés and at the House of Culture of San Pedro del Pinatar.
