Citizens denounces that the PP blocks the expansion of the Social Council of San Pedro del Pinatar (10/05/2017)

â— The training shows its surprise at the decision of the Government team to reject a motion to add more organizations to the council

â— "We do not understand that an initiative is not supported so that the 180 local associations can work more and better for their municipality," says José Luis Ros

The municipal group of Citizens has shown its "surprise and discomfort" after the Government team of the Popular Party rejected a motion to expand the number and composition of the members of the Social Council of San Pedro del Pinatar.

According to local orange spokesman José Luis Ros, "his proclamations for transparency and greater participation of citizens in their institutions last until the time comes to turn them into palpable acts and realities."

Ros says he does not understand the reasons why the PP "does not support an initiative for local associations to have a voice and more presence in the future of the activity of our town hall."

The Cs motion proposed that seven areas (Assistance and Social, Sociosanitary, Cultural, Sports, Environment, Equality and Youth) be constituted and that each one would have two representatives, chosen from the associations and corresponding groups, in the Social Council.

It also proposed that "due to the great importance in the municipality of the primary sector, mainly in fisheries and aquaculture, also had a natural presence on the board two representatives of these activities."

Ros stressed that the proposed amendment and extension of the Social Council "is fruit of its limited current configuration, with only 18 members;

As of the fact of reflecting the intense associative activity existing in the municipality, in which there are 180 registered associations ".

For that reason, he considers that the refusal of the PP to the extension "responds to a conception of the municipal politics exclusivist and elitist that does not have fit in the present conception of the same that the citizens have".

The Orange spokesman also announced that Citizens "will continue to try to get Pinatarians involved and work for their locality."
