The municipal museum Barón Benifayó exposes until July 16 an extensive exhibition with more than 200 museum pieces on this festival of marine roots with great roots in San Pedro del Pinatar.
The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitación Martínez, the Councilor for Culture and Tourism, Silvia Egea, the major patron of the Fishermen's Guild, Jesus Gómez, and the president of the Association of the Virgin of Carmen, Charo García, inaugurated the Thursday, May 18, the exhibition of the 125th anniversary of the Virgen del Carmen, which is exhibited until July 16 in the municipal museum Barón de Benifayó.
This exhibition, which has interesting documentation, photographs, sculptures, banners and various objects related to the festival, is part of the program of activities for the commemoration of the 125th anniversary of the Virgen del Carmen Pilgrimage. July since 1892 congregates thousands of people in the locality.
The exhibition highlights the carvings of the Virgin of Carmen and La Merced, as well as the five banners that have been processed in the pilgrimage since the 1920s, the brotherhood and the association of the Virgin of Carmen.
Also exhibited are the crowns that have been the image of the Virgin in different times or a reconstruction of the altar that is placed in front of the Hotel Traiña every year.
The exhibition, which has contributed to its contributions many locals, also has a large sample of photographs of the pilgrimage from the beginning, as well as fishermen fishing in the waters of the Mar Menor, posters and other articles Promotional products.
This exhibition also has interesting documentation on ancient publications in written media and relevant moments of the festival such as the centenary of the pilgrimage or the coronation canon of the Virgin of Carmen, among others.
