The Beach Unit doubles the attention to the citizen and reduces the sanctions for norms of coexistence (13/09/2017)

The members of the Beach Unit of San Pedro del Pinatar have attended more than 4,260 citizens from June 23 to September 10 and have reduced to a third the sanctions processed for breach of norms of coexistence in the beaches.

The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitation Martinez, local police councilor, Angela Gaona, and the local police chief, Manuel Belmonte, today took stock of the actions carried out by the Beach Unit since 23 June to 10 September.

Visitación Martínez has indicated that this year has extended the operation of the Beach Unit to the entire summer period, as last year was only made in July and August.

This device, which works on beaches and promenades, has been composed this year by seven agents and a corporal as Head of Service, who have had five bicycles and a quad to cover the 13 kilometers of coast of the town.

The objective of this Beach Unit has focused on providing information to the citizen and ensuring peaceful coexistence and security on the beaches of the town.

One of the novelties has been the entry into force of the new Ordinance on the Use and Enjoyment of Beaches.

In this regard, the mayor has said that it is an ordinance "that brings together other previous rules and, at no time has had a coercive intention, as has been wanted to convey from different areas, but rather, to encourage beaches to be spaces of coexistence and ensure that all users enjoy them in optimal conditions. "

The mayor added that this normality in its application is reflected in the balance of the Beach Unit, since the fundamental work of the agents has focused on providing information to the citizen, mainly on the new standard, so have been carried out 4266 actions in this area.

Regarding the sanctions directly related to the ordinance, the mayor has detailed that "during the month of July and August have risen to 75, a third of those processed in the same period of the previous year for the same infractions."

Meanwhile, the councilwoman added that throughout the summer this type of sanctions has risen to 118, most of them (78) have been processed by the possession of animals on beaches, 36 by peddling on boardwalks , 5 for fishing in a forbidden zone and 1 for nudism.

In this area has highlighted the great decline in street vending compared to the previous year, thanks to the work of the Unit in 2016 and the Local Police throughout the year in spaces such as weekly markets.

Angela Gaona has indicated that the agents have also processed 32 complaints for non-compliance with the Citizen Security Law and 187 for traffic violations, mainly due to inadequate parking.

The Playa Unit has also made 158 people identifications, participated in the search and accompaniment of three missing persons, and have collaborated with the public security patrols of the same police force, carrying out three arrests, two of them by people searching and capture and another for breach of order of removal.

They have also collaborated with other municipal services such as the COPLA Rescue Plan in different actions, such as the withdrawal of abandoned boats and other objects at sea;

and with Community Services, transmitting the damages in urban furniture and common areas or the irregular installation of signage, among others.
