The center for Social Services and Women has concentrated today these presentations with which the program of activities carried out on the occasion of November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, has begun.
The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitación Martínez, and the president of the Association of Families and Women of the Rural Environment (AFAMMER) in the Region, Carmen Inglés, today inaugurated the day of Prevention of gender violence.
Visitación Martínez thanked AFAMMER for its collaboration with the City of San Pedro del Pinatar through projects aimed at promoting gender equality and delving into the prevention of sexist behavior, such as the talk offered today.
Likewise, it has influenced the importance of working together from the intervention and prevention to eradicate the social scourge that gender violence entails, which this year has already ended the lives of 44 women at the hands of their partners or ex-partners .
This talk has had the presentations "inequality as a cause of gender violence: The social construction of inequality", by the psychologist Araceli Rodríguez, and "How to detect gender violence and recognize the abuser", in charge of Susana García Calvo.
After a discussion debate, the general director of Women of the Region of Murcia, Alicia Barquero, closed the event by presenting the regional campaign "do not be emoticon", which calls society to act if it detects any type of violence against women.
The activities will continue with gender violence prevention workshops in institutes, a talk, under the title "Women and men: history of five generations", a special program on Radio Pinatar under the title "Behaviors that are what they do not seem" and the official act of November 24.
