San Pedro del Pinatar vindicates the rights of children and youth in Universal Children's Day (20/11/2017)

A score of children and adolescents from all schools in the municipality today issued a manifesto, prepared by themselves, in which they have expressed their interests and claims for the municipality.

The municipality of San Pedro del Pinatar has celebrated today the Universal Children's Day with the reading of a manifesto, by children and adolescents of the educational centers of the locality, the delivery of prizes of the contest "I know my rights", a program Radio Pinatar special and a balloon release reflecting the rights contained in the "Convention on the Rights of the Child".

Visitación Martínez said that November 20 is a day to "call attention to the situation of the most disadvantaged children, publicize the rights of children and raise awareness of the importance of working every day for their well-being. and development "and recalled that the City Council works" transversally in the protection and development of childhood and adolescence. "

He also pointed out that work is being done on the constitution of the Municipal Council for Children and Adolescents of San Pedro del Pinatar, a new citizen participation body that will aim to give voice to the children and youth of the municipality, gathering their demands and interests.

In addition, the last Plenary approved the proposal of adhesion of the City Council to obtain the seal of recognition of UNICEF's Amiga de la Infancia city.

Subsequently, a total of 18 children and adolescents from all schools in the locality, elected by their peers, have pronounced a manifesto in which they have shown their commitment to work and participate in an active way, in the social and political life of the municipality.

Among other proposals, young people have indicated the creation of more bicycle lanes, parks and gardens that are safer, cleaner and more accessible;

greater accessibility in streets and sidewalks of the municipality;

more cultural, sports and recreational activities, or strengthen the figure of the youth mediator to fight against harassment in the classroom.

The writers of this manifesto have been Hajar Lamchichi of CBM Las Esperanzas;

Pedro Crespo, Pablo Vidal and Olga Blanco of the CEC San Pedro Apóstol;

Candela Ruiz from CBM Villa Alegria;

Salvador Aguilar, Norberto Albaladejo and Sandra Mª Egea of ​​New Castelar College;

Africa Ferrer of CBM Maspalomas;

Luis Manuel Turcu from CBM Nuestra Señora del Carmen;

Felix Sanz from CBM Los Pinos;

Juan Cortes and Joaquin Enrique Garcia of CBM Los Antolinos;

Vanessa Sanchez, Darwin Javier Peralta and Cesar Rodriguez from IES Dos Mares, and Nadine Andreea Ciobanu and Mª Carmen Hernandez from IES Manuel Tarraga.

Afterwards, the prizes of the I School Drawing Contest "I know my rights" have been awarded, aimed at making children aware of the content of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, and in which 183 students of the second cycle of elementary school have participated. Castelar College, Los Pinos, Maspalomas, Las Esperanzas, Villa Alegría and Antolinos.

The winning image, which has also appeared on the poster for the Children's Day program, has been the drawing of Irene Rico Victoria (New Castelar College), with 60 euros in sports equipment;

the second prize went to Marta-María Ciornei Ionita (Los Pinos), who received 50 euros of sports equipment and the third prize went to Ariana Myshel Cuenca Valarezo (Maspalomas), with 40 euros of sports equipment.

In addition, during the morning a special program of Radio Pinatar was carried out, in which all the children who have prepared the manifesto participated, and the event concluded with a balloon release in which the rights contained in the Children's rights convention.

The Department of Social Welfare has coordinated an extensive program of activities, in coordination with other departments, which has included handicraft workshops, open day in the traffic playground, children's theater and reading animation, among other activities.
