The Department of the Environment and the concessionaire of street cleaning FCC have launched this initiative aimed at encouraging the collection of canine excrements on public roads, parks and gardens.
The councilman of Environment of San Pedro del Pinatar, Pedro Javier Sanchez, and the Head of production of FCC in Murcia, Manuel Lage, today presented the campaign "For a San Pedro del Pinatar clean", with which we want to influence the importance of collecting pet droppings in public spaces.
The mayor has indicated that "one of the main neighborhood complaints is the presence of canine excrement in streets, parks and gardens," causing dirt and bad odors, as well as a terrible image of the town.
The councilor explained that this campaign will include the distribution of 50,000 bags for the collection of excrement in veterinary clinics, pet stores, public buildings and businesses interested in adhering to this initiative.
Informative panels will also be placed, in which the citizenship of the owners of the pets is urged.
In this regard, the councilor noted that "most owners are responsible and collect the feces of dogs, but there is still a party that does not, and they are directed this campaign."
Pedro Javier Sanchez also recalled that the municipal ordinance on Protection and Tenure of pets, of 2008, stipulates that the non-collection of excrement from public roads can be sanctioned with fines of up to 300 euros.
