More than 100 people find the fashion collection created by the group of Aymara Women (05/11/2011)

The coordinator of Women Aymara (Peru) presented yesterday at the Casino Cultural de San Pedro del Pinatar his collection in 2011, the result of entrepreneurship and a cooperation project that for three years is helping to improve the quality of life over 420 women and their families.

The craftsmanship and tradition of the weavers of Aymara regions of Peru and the latest fashions created by Spanish designer, are the elements that give life to this project in the region of Puno, near Lake Titicaca in Peru.

This project, which landed yesterday at San Javier after its introduction in cities like Lima and Madrid, was born three years ago, a collaborative effort of the Coalition of Women Aymaras, the Higher School of Fashion Design at the Polytechnic University of Madrid and the city of Madrid.

During this period, designers and craftspeople work closely to create a commercial fashion, taking place in the Western market and provide more resources to the Aymara community, but without giving up indigenous raw material, wool and cotton baby alpaca pyma, and craftsmanship.

The project Development of leadership capacities of women in Aymara Communities, led by the rector of the Polytechnic University of Madrid, Adolfo Cazorla, has achieved since the women of this community put up stores and exported to other continents , quadrupling revenue before its implementation.

During the presentation of the project in San Javier, Adolfo Cazorla stressed the importance of these business initiatives in areas such as Puno region in Peru, one of the poorest areas of the country where, in addition, its inhabitants have to deal with harsh climatic conditions and demographics.

For its part, the president of the Coalition of Women Aymaras, Jesus Petrona Candia, explained how the process has been learning and living by the designers and artisans.

It also noted that through this project Aymara women have achieved greater autonomy and are beginning to enter the market on their own.

The event also intervened Adolfo Garcia, manager of the local agricultural enterprise Camposeven immersed in this project, working with the spread and development of Aymara fashion collection.

The mayor of the municipality, Visitation Martinez, said the initiative and thanked Camposeven approaching reality and Aymara women work at San Javier.

During the parade, attendees could see the diversity of items that make up this collection includes garments for men, women and children, as well as accessories and home fashion.

In addition, attendees were able to purchase these products in a retail outlet that was installed after the parade.
