The mayor of San Javier, Visitation Martinez, yesterday received the award given to the session at the hands of José Andreu, manager of the restaurant El Parras, which for more than two decades has honored the work of individuals and groups pinatarenses.
Cultural Casino San Javier last night welcomed the twentieth edition of the Golden Parra, an award that gives the restaurant since 1988 Parr persons or groups that have developed an important work for the municipality.

After intervention by the manager of The Vines, James Rosique, resident of the municipality and scholar of the history files and pinatarense, said the historical framework in establishing the City of San Javier in 1836.
In an entertaining speech, peppered with anecdotes, historical references, trivia, Rosique recounted the turbulent end of the nineteenth century and as the City receives treatment in 1925 Excellency, among other events of local significance.
For its part, the Mayor thanked the City Council this recognition and noted that the award belongs "to all those men and women who for centuries have worked to make this small town nestled between the Mediterranean and the Mar Menor to become an example of hospitality , improvement and progress "
The Mayor reviewed the origin of San Javier, which dates back to Roman times and told how the town grows over the centuries, becoming a mid-twentieth century into a major tourist spot, thanks to the natural environment, beaches and entrepreneurship of its people.
It also highlighted the economic and social takeoff experienced by the City Council with the democratic era, combing "the hand of the needs of their neighbors."
"This historic grounds, the work of centuries, traditions and family and emotional ties which for centuries have brought us to San Javier make us who we are today, a municipality with over 25,000 inhabitants, modern and prosperous, but that has not lost the essence of village and fishing village, "he said.
He also recalled the work of the 64 mayors since 1836, the predecessors in office, noting that in recent months the City has wanted to share with all neighbors, "the joy of this anniversary, a tribute to his effort and dedication" spreading the history and identity among the younger pinatarense, recovering the legacy of the largest and reviving traditions and customs.
At this point Andreu family thanked their contribution to this celebration with the presentation of the Golden Parra and his contribution to praise the "identity pinatarense" for over two decades, recalling the work of people and entities "key to our history local ".
Since its establishment the Golden Parra has recognized the work of groups such as the Fishermen's Association, Easter pinatarense, association or Aideman Housewives, as well as leading figures in business, social, political or sports.
