The Biodiversity Foundation awards the stall Calisto for his ideas to protect the beach (20/11/2012)

The Calisto establishment, located on the beach of El Mojon, has been awarded the third prize of "Responsible Bars" in the category ideas by his proposals to establish a recycling point on the beach, make a gymkhana waste collection and promote an information campaign on Posidonia oceanica

The head of the Coastal State in Murcia, Andres Martinez, Councilman Tourism San Javier, Antonio Garcia, and the owner of the stall Calisto, Palmira Parabula Margarita, attended yesterday the awards "Responsible Bars ", organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment, through the Biodiversity Foundation.

The Calisto kiosk, located on the beach of El Mojon pinatarense, has been one of the six establishments in Spain awarded in this first call where we evaluate the involvement of the bars in coastal protection.

The owners of this restaurant have earned coastal third prize in the "Ideas" for a project that includes three proposals to raise awareness of the importance of the coastal environment of the municipality.

Thus, the proposal includes the Calisto chiringuito provide ecological point of garbage collection, access to the beach, and a campaign of awareness and information on laposidonia ocean, very present on the beach of El Mojon.

The Calisto chiringuito also proposes making a gymkhana waste collection in August, given the location in which this beach is located very close to the regional park of Las Salinas and Arenales de San Pedro, with the aim of raising awareness among residents and visitors of the importance of caring for and keep clean the coastline.

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Federico Ramos, presented the award, worth 2,000 euros, the owner of Calisto and said that the winners in this edition will serve as an example for the involvement of the hoteliers in coastal conservation .

The six winners of this call for "Responsible Bars" have been The XirinGo Del Prat (Barcelona), The Glea (Alicante) and Olibaba (Valencia), awarded the first, second and third prize, respectivamenteen category "Initiatives developed".

While in the "Ideas" the winners were Nahubeach (Cádiz), The Rosa Campello (Alicante) and Callisto (San Javier / Murcia)

The Councillor for Tourism of San Javier, Antonio Garcia, stressed the importance of this initiative, as it affects both the preservation and enhancement of the coast, and in improving the quality of tourism services in the municipality and recalled that the City Council has promoted this initiative between the different establishments in the municipality, providing information and technical support for the development of their projects.

Also thanked the implication that establishments have shown San Javier as nine bars adhered to the code of good practice which proposed this initiative and Calisto stall was the only winner of the Region.
