School planted 50 palm trees in the Regional Park to mark World Wetlands Day (31/01/2014)

This initiative, which involved students from five schools in the municipality, Churros and Chocolate comes from Victor, second prize winner of the national competition for sustainable Chiringuitos

A total of 50 students in fifth and sixth grade in public schools The Antolinos, Nuestra Señora del Carmen, Los Pinos, Hopes and Villa Joy, participated today in the repopulation of date palms in the north of the Salinas Regional Park and Arenales de San Pedro.

This activity arises from the initiative of Victor Churros and Chocolate, a local company that was awarded for this project in the second edition of the national awards responsible bars.

Scholars have previously worked Regional Park features in their schools with a drawing contest and selected the ten best works of each school to participate in the reforestation activity.

So, the day began with a guided visit to the Regional park Salinas y Arenales de San Pedro, accompanied by environmental guidelines, in addition to teachers from different schools and staff and volunteers from the Department of Education.

After this visit, in which the children have known this wetland ecosystem, the children have lunch churros and chocolate on the promenade of El Mojon fifty before planting palm trees, provided by the establishment of the promoter activity.

Finally, students have been stocked with date palms fifty northern Regional Park, on the path along the canal Drainage and beach of El Mojon.
