The City has hosted the ceremony honoring the team of Dragon Boat UCAM AD Pinatar last weekend lifted the Guinness World Record for longest distance traveled on this ship in 24 hours.

The Plenary Hall of the City of San Pedro del Pinatar has been the site where today paid tribute to the 21 paddlers Pinatar AD, after reaping international success aboard the Dragon Boat, last weekend managed to reach the greatest distance , 188 kilometers traveled in Dragon Boat in 24 hours, thus entering the Guinness Book of Record.

During the event, where attendees were able to see a photo exhibition of the hard day the paddlers they faced, the mayor, Visitation Martinez, and the Councillor for Sports, Daniel Perez, the team took delivery of a commemorative mural with images of this feat as well as a video in which the suffering of athletes and hardness test, reinforced by adverse weather conditions reflected.

The mayor thanked the team for their efforts, their spirit of unity and courage which, together with their physical and mental strength it took to get this Guinness Record to have also projected internationally the municipality of San Pedro del Pinatar.

Club vice president, Raul Lopez, highlighted the success of these paddlers, who braved the wind, cold and rain, and showed again why they are among the world elite of the sport.

He also praised the support of all those people who made that day, as volunteers, fellow club members, civil protection staff and all those who bet on the success of this group of athletes.

The event has also intervened, Isaac García-Alcalá, one of the paddlers team, which has been reported as lived from the dragon that day and as pushed them to the heat of the dozens of people cheering them hour after hour from the dock to meet the challenge.
