The City is working on campaigns for food aid from Caritas and the Red Cross with the "solidarity Shopping purchase" (11/11/2015)

The City of San Pedro del Pinatar has allocated 24,000 euros this year, this project aimed at humanitarian aid associations, among other things, working with the distribution of food to needy families in the municipality.

The mayor of San Javier, Visitation Martinez, and the Councillor for Citizen Participation, Fuensanta Garcia, today presented the framework of the program "Shopping cart solidarity" associations Parish Caritas and Red Cross Northern Mar Menor, whose projects have opted to grants.

Through this program, explained the mayor, the City Council has allocated a total of 24,000 euros, 20 percent more than in the last edition, associations help those in need, in order to complement the products they receive of food banks in Cartagena and Murcia.

Visitation Martinez said that the objective is to support and complement the work done by local associations working as distributors of food bank for the region through coordination and cooperation between government and social partners, thereby enhancing the comprehensive care the most deprived persons in the municipality.

The mayor thanked the solidarity and altruism performing partners, employees and volunteers of these associations to provide assistance for those families in difficulty and is committed to continue working with them through various avenues such as this project, "Cart Purchase of Solidarity. "

The president of Mar Menor North Red Cross, José Cortés, noted that the association will allocate 12,000 euros collected in this project to provide a balanced breakfast or lunch to children who are at risk of social exclusion, as they have done in the two previous editions.

In fact, the "Healthy Breakfast" project of this group was recently awarded the prize for Best campaign donations or other recruitment events, awarded by the National Red Cross Fundraising Conference held in Salamanca.

The president of Caritas Parish, Antonio Tárraga, said that this partnership will allocate 12,000 euros to the acquisition of perishable products to deliver to the beneficiary families of the food bank serving the association and thus provide a more complete menu.

The ultimate goal of this program, developed by the Department of Citizen Participation, is that associations pinatarenses provide to families at risk of social exclusion a complete and healthy diet.
