The Minister for Social Policy visits to children in care to spend the summer in Lo Pagan (19/08/2008)

The Minister of Social Policy, Women and Migration, Joaquín Bascuñana, has shared the day today with a group of children, supervised by the Ministry, who enjoy their summer vacation in two homes of Lo Pagan.

This is a total of 24 children, aged 2 to 13 years, from Cardinal Belluga centers and Mother Paula, located in Murcia, and participating in these days of sun and beach, attended by monitors of centers and housed at the Residence Virgen del Mar and Casa Villa Milagrosa, which manage the Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul and the Franciscan Sisters, respectively, in the coastal town of Murcia.

Bascuñana, which already had this experience last summer, was pleased to share a day with these children and their teachers and said that since the Ministry of Social Policy, Women and Migration "still working on the implementation of social and leisure to enable children who have tutored to enjoy the same activities as other children, thus contributing to better quality of life and social integration. "

As for children, children from Cardinal Belluga center of Murcia, there are 14 different nationalities, the total of thirty in there today.

These children are aged between 2 and 6 years, while children are not present in this summer camp are the smallest of the group that meets in the center.

Regarding the children from Mother Paula, Lo Pagan, it is a dozen young people between 6 and 13 years and all are Spanish.

As in the previous case, custody or guardianship of minors is for the Ministry of Social Policy, after they have been removed from their birth families for various reasons of neglect, abuse or abandonment.

Currently, the Ministry of Social Policy, Women and Immigration have custody of 260 children are placed in different centers in the region and, in some cases, remain in temporary foster care or with relatives families or others.
