â— The formation regrets that the Government still does not offer explanations to choose the internal itinerary in contravention of the decision of the Regional Assembly endorsed by the plenary sessions of San Pedro del Pinatar, San Javier, Cartagena and Los Alcázares
â— "The PP again demonstrates its lack of interest in doing something positive with the Mar Menor and its riverside municipalities," says the orange spokesman, José Luis Ros
Citizens has denounced today the "null commitment" that the regional government and the PP in the Consistory of Pinar del Rio are demonstrating with the Mar Menor.
In this case, according to the local orange spokesman, José Luis Ros, "the example has been that the mayor has not even wanted to debate a motion presented by Ciudadanos to explain the reasons why the regional executive, also of the PP, has forgotten its commitment in the Regional Assembly and has opted for an internal itinerary for the Eurovelo Network of bicycle tourism on its way through the Region ".
"In September of last year, in this same Plenary Session of San Pedro del Pinatar, a motion was approved unanimously to defend the branch line along the Mar Menor coastline, which would also later be endorsed in the San Javier plenary sessions, Los Alcázares and Cartagena.
In fact, and also unanimously, the very Regional Assembly devoted this option, which boosted the tourist potential of the entire area and especially of a threatened Mar Menor, "added Ros, who regrets that" now, less than a year later , the regional government cancels that step of Eurovelo for the Mar Menor and its municipalities and opts for an internal itinerary without explanations, as it has shown again avoiding the debate of this motion ".
The layout promoted by Citizens and approved by the Regional Assembly contemplated a main branch that would link San Pedro del Pinatar with Águilas through the riverside municipalities of the Mar Menor and the regional coast, which make up the backbone of our tourism sector, and would be the main beneficiaries of this cyclable tourism network.
In fact, Citizens consigned half a million euros in regional budgets to boost Eurovelo, and already presented more than a year ago motions to make the necessary investments to be able to certify the network as it passes through San Pedro del Pinatar and San Javier, which have been approved.
At the regional level, in the Regional Assembly Citizens also registered an initiative to reinforce Route 8 of Eurovelo, in which in addition to the coastal branch, Citizens asked for certification and impulse for branches with destination to the regions of the Northwest, Altiplano and Valle de Ricote.
Ciudadanos already presented initiatives in this regard in Lorca, Mazarrón, Águilas, Cartagena, Los Alcázares (coastal branch), Murcia, Las Torres de Cotillas, Ceutí, Mula, Pliego, Calasparra, Cehegín, Caravaca de la Cruz (Northwest branch extension), Blanca, Ojós, Abarán (Ricote Valley), Cieza and Yecla (Altiplano).
