The Music Unit of the General Air Academy (AGA) returned this year to be part of the celebrations in honor of the Virgen del Carmen with a concert held in the Plaza de la Constitución on Thursday night, July 12.
Under the direction of the musician Captain José Manuel Castelló Sánchez, the Music Unit delighted the audience with a selection of topics in which the rich and complex Spanish music had a prominent presence.
The night began with the pasodoble "El Capitán", by Camilo Pérez Laporta and continued with "Noa y Valeria", two pieces composed by Manuel Castelló that make up a compositional unit, which was performed for the first time in San Pedro del Pinatar and has as purpose to celebrate the life and the birth of two children.
After the performance the author gave his nieces granddaughters, who inspire this piece, the scores of the work.
The concert continued with the dance "Ritual de fuego", by El Amor Brujo by Manuel de Falla;
"Palindromía Flamenca", by Antonio Ruda Peco;
"Al compás del mambo", by Dámaso Pérez Prado and "La boda de Luis Alonso", a lyrical farce by Gerónimo Giménez.
The program concluded with "The Party of Trumpets" by Leroy Anderson.
Before ending with La Parranda, the Salve Marinera and the Anthem of Spain;
Sofía Fuster, vice president of the Association of the Virgen del Carmen gave the Colonel Chief of the General Air Academy, Miguel Ivorra, a blessed image of the Virgen del Carmen, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the AGA and in gratitude for the constant and close collaboration of the Academy with this festivity.
In that same act, Miguel Ivorra highlighted the union of the municipality of San Pedro del Pinatar with the General Air Academy and thanked the City Council for its collaboration in its 75th anniversary, as well as the massive response to the events scheduled for this commemoration, mainly at the air festival.
In addition, he promised to continue forming part of the festivity of the Virgen del Carmen.
The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitation Martinez, praised the Academy's disposition and its involvement in the party, through this concert and the traditional pass of the Eagle Patrol on July 16, coinciding with the maritime pilgrimage.
