The operators of the Municipal Warehouse have carried out more than 200 works of painting, electricity, gardening, masonry, glassware, plumbing, signaling, etc.
in the educational centers of the town and its surroundings for the start of the course.
The City of San Pedro del Pinatar, through the Councils of Community Services and Education, has coordinated this summer dozens of repair and maintenance work in the seven public schools in the town, responding to the demands of the educational community and ensuring that the schools are in perfect condition for the start of the course next Thursday, September 6.
The mayor, Visitación Martínez, today supervised the work together with the councilors of Community Services and Education, Ángela Gaona and Guadalupe García, respectively, at the Colegio Nuestra Señora del Carmen in Lo Pagán.
Visitación Martínez explained that throughout the summer there were locksmith, carpentry, masonry, painting, plumbing, electricity, glassware or gardening tasks in classrooms, common areas and courtyards of the seven public schools in the town.
Among other works have been made of blinds and glass, painting of classrooms and outdoor areas, adequacy of toilets, replacement of fences and meshes, repair plugs, lights, radiators and tubes;
installation of fences and shelves, installation of tiles and slabs, etc.
Likewise, a pruning of all the trees of the six centers has been carried out and spaces have been adapted, attending to the requests of the schools, creating new classrooms and storage spaces.
These works, in which the priorities demanded by the management teams of the schools have been taken into account, have been completed with a thorough cleaning of the centers, which is also repeated during the Christmas and Easter holidays.
In addition, as every year, the accesses to the centers with vertical and horizontal signaling have been conditioned, in order to improve the security conditions, and the cleaning of the areas and lots near schools and institutes has been carried out.
Visitación Martínez pointed out that the City Council destines this year
more than 386,000 euros for repair, maintenance and cleaning of schools, some works that are concentrated in the summer period "to take advantage of the absence of activity and not to disrupt the teaching activity." Although there are tasks that will be carried out later, before the end of the year, such as the repair and replacement of rubber in the playgrounds, which could not be carried out due to the heat, or those demands that the educational community moves us ".
Thus, throughout the school year cleaning, maintenance and revision of elevators, provision of fuel for heating centers, etc. are carried out.
The objective of this work is for the children from Pinar del Rio to begin the course in the best conditions and with the centers in perfect condition, the mayor has concluded.
