The members of the COPLA Plan carried out 63,266 interventions throughout the months of July and August, a figure that represents 1,020 daily actions, according to the counselor of the Presidency, Pedro Rivera, during the presentation of the main figures that the work developed showed. in these two months.

Rivera, who made this balance on the beach of La Puntica de Lo Pagán, said that this data "gives an idea of ​​the intense activity deployed and determines that we should show our gratitude to all those people who dedicate a large part of their time, to throughout the summer, to ensure the safety of others. "

Those more than 63,000 performances represent a significant increase compared to about 49,000 last year, which has been mainly due to the assistance from marine animal bites, mainly jellyfish.

Among other data, highlights the increase by 30 percent of assistance to the bathroom for people with disabilities, "activity that makes available to this group the enjoyment of a day at the beach in the best safety conditions," he said. the counselor

It also highlights the decline in the rescues of people at sea, which have gone from 277 to 165, while those of boats have grown, which were 20 a year ago and have now been 33.

And regarding the number of deaths on the beaches of the Region, this figure has been reduced during these two months from 12 to four people, compared to the same period last year.

Most of the interventions are among the so-called 'Information and Social Services', which include, for example, consultations and assistance to people with disabilities amounting to 35,500 interventions, followed by 'Cures and First Aid', which have been in total 27,100.

The first aid, surveillance and rescue device that has been active daily during these two months was 250 people in the 127 positions spread over 76 beaches along the 274 kilometers of coastline, with a budget of 780,000 euros.

As of Sunday, September 16, 34 first aid, surveillance and rescue posts will remain open along the coast, and until the end of the month, 7, located in the municipalities of San Pedro del Pinatar and San Javier.

MORE THAN 4,000 PERFORMANCES AT PINATARENS BEACHES

For its part, the mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitation Martinez, has indicated that from June 16 to August 31, the members of the rescue plan in Beaches of the town have made 4157 actions, concentrated on the beaches of La Llana (1103), Torre Derribada (839) and Villananitos (738).

The most numerous assistances have also been assistance and first aid, such as marine animal bites, wound care, bathroom aids for the disabled or information consultations.
