The Sea Museum of San Pedro del Pinatar, inaugurated last Saturday, October 6, the extension of its facilities totaling a total of 200 square meters.
The event was attended by the mayor of the town, Visitación Martínez, the Senior Patron of the Fishermen's Association of San Pedro del Pinatar, Jusús Gómez, the Head Colonel of the General Air Academy, Miguel Iborra, the Captain Marítimo, Ă“scar Villar, the Councilor for Tourism and Culture, Silvia Egea, members of the Virgen del Carmen Association, as well as other civil authorities and numerous neighbors who wanted to share this moment.
The new exhibition space houses a collection of models of warships donated by the Pinar del Rio, Ricardo Jover and various temporary exhibitions.
At present, you can visit the collection of old photographs that show the daily life of the fishermen of the Mar Menor donated by the Friends of Museums Association.
In addition, in the new environment, highlights a painting of the image of the Virgin of Carmen made by the artist Goyo and which has been donated by the Virgen del Carmen Association.
A ninot made by the Valencian Manuel Sala, who represents a sailor with his boat, and a projection room, completes this new surface.
There was no lack of memories of Lázaro Escudero, founder of the Museum of the Sea in 1980, and of Carmen Gracia, mother of the current director of the Museum, Benito Pérez, who for more than a decade was in charge of it.
