The home of pensioner José Espinosa de Lo Pagán has once again been the setting for this celebration that has included choir performance, a mass and convivial meal.
The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitación Martínez, and the Councilor for Social Welfare, Francisca Pelegrín, attended today's "Day of the grandparents", a commemoration to which the homes of the town are added each year with great success of participation and that reunites more than 300 majors.
Thus, the activities have begun at 12:30, with a choir performance, followed by a mass and a convivial meal to close the day.
The mayor highlighted the fundamental role of homes in San Pedro del Pinatar to encourage older people in the town to remain active and have leisure alternatives, through the various activities they organize, such as bingo, workshops, courses, trips, etc.
Visitación Martínez also congratulated Pilar de la Osa, present at the event and who continues with her work as a drawing instructor in the homes workshops, for her award for local work within the Senior Awards of the 2018 Region.
For their part, the presidents of the Associations of Pensioners of Lo Pagán and San Pedro, Pedro Vicente Sánchez and Mª Cleofé Pascual, respectively, thanked the City Council for its support in initiatives like this one.
