The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitación Marínez, will receive next week in Oviedo, the recognition of UNICEF, which has recently awarded the City of San Pedro del Pinatar the stamp of Ciudad Amiga de la Infancia.
This recognition is the result of the municipal commitment to the defense and enhancement of the rights of children and adolescents that in the last year has been increased with different actions aimed at the protection and development of childhood and adolescence.
Thus, this year the Plan for Children and Adolescents 2018-2022 was approved, which aims to provide the consistory with a unified tool to coordinate and direct the actions that are developed from different areas and which also includes the voice of children and adolescents of the location.
The Plan is based on the Convention on the Rights of the Child to ensure the protection, social promotion and care of children;
At the same time, the participatory and active role of children and adolescents in the municipality is deepened, through citizen participation processes and organizations such as the Council for Childhood and Adolescence, a consultative body made up of 21 children and adolescents from all schools and institutes of the locality.
This plan includes around 40 actions in different areas such as Social Services, Youth, Sports, Culture, Education, Citizen Participation, Local Police and Social Services, aimed at promoting the participation of children and young people in the locality;
encourage healthy life habits;
the responsive use of new technologies;
reconcile work and family life;
prevent and act in situations of social risk;
facilitate access to culture, education and sports, or promote healthy leisure, among others.
