The City Council of San Pedro del Pinatar celebrated today the International Day of Volunteering in an act in which the altruistic work that for seven years have played more than 300 municipal volunteers in social, educational, sports or cultural projects, among others.

The Mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitación Martínez, and the Councilor for Volunteering, Fuensanta García, have praised today, Volunteer Day, the dedication and dedication of the more than 300 people who since 2012 have participated in the Municipal Volunteer Plan, under the motto "Discover the best of you, volunteer."

In an act held in the City of San Pedro del Pinatar, the mayor has pointed out that volunteers contribute to making a society more just and sensitive to inequalities through their totally altruistic actions.

He also pointed out that throughout these years, the local plan "Discover the best of you, become a volunteer" has helped to create and improve dozens of projects and actions in favor of education, culture, sports or integration. social, thanks to the disinterested action of hundreds of people.

For his part, Fuensanta García thanked the initiative of the new volunteers who in the last year have joined the different projects, among which the new program of 'volunteers for integration', developed in collaboration with AIDEMAR, has stood out.

The councilor also highlighted that there are currently education assistants in early childhood education, native school monitors who contribute to improve the teaching of English, volunteers who collaborate with the residences of elderly Messengers of Peace and Villademar.

There are also university volunteers, as well as volunteers for culture, who collaborate with the House of Culture, the archaeological museum and the library, volunteers in sports activities and, in the field of education, those who perform school reinforcement work to prevent absenteeism , or those who have collaborated with childhood and the cradle house in summer.

The ceremony ended with the presentation of a small gift to each of the volunteers present as a thank you for the important role they perform in the municipality.
