'Tejiendo futuro' with the Amaras Women (10/12/2018)

The Polytechnic University of Madrid, the Spanish NGO Design for Development and the Ingenio Foundation, created by Camposeven and some people from the area, are part of this project that has promoted sustainable social and economic development since 2008, as well as the leadership of this community of women artisans

More than 400 women weave illusions from Peru, at more than 3,000 meters of altitude, and they make them arrive to all parts of the world.

These women, who live in the AltiPlano Region, divided into six provinces, belong to the Association of Women Artisans Aymaras Coordinator (CMA).

Aymara women handcrafted products and clothing using natural yarns such as baby alpaca, one of the finest fibers in the world;

or Pima cotton, one of the softest and finest on the market.

All these products -exported to different places- reflect the life, stumbles and triumphs of these women in the art of weaving and embroidery.

In all these expressions and forms with which they create their products is their life, family, society and dreams;

hence the diversity of crafts presented to us.

This great work that the Aymara women carry out is carried out through a project financed by the Ingenio Foundation and the Polytechnic University of Madrid, in order to develop their leadership and planning capacity in face of the challenges that their personal growth and development entail in the Aymara provinces on the shores of Lake Titicaca, in the Puno region, in Peru.

The Polytechnic University of Madrid, the Spanish NGO Design for Development and the Ingenio Foundation, create this solidary project to promote a sustainable socioeconomic development in this group of women, to which in this way, they are offered a present and future work a work that takes root in its deepest traditions.

This project, created in 2008, was created with the aim of helping women microentrepreneurs in the Aymara communities of Peru to become economically self-sufficient by increasing their technical and business capacity.

In this way, they improve their level of autonomy by becoming leading actors in the sustainable development of their communities.

The Ingenio Foundation, led by Camposeven and which has promoted this initiative since its inception, is a non-profit organization founded in 2013 by six companies committed to social development and the transmission of knowledge as a way to contribute to the economic well-being of society. .

The companies that are currently part of the Ingenio Foundation are: Biocampo, SLU Camposeven, Interempleo, Jera Avanza, SAT Los Ritas and Villademar Residence.

The event, which will take place on Friday December 14 at the San Pedro del Pinatar fairgrounds, aims to publicize the work carried out by the association of craftswomen and reward the effort and professionalism they carry out through their clothing , aimed at men, women, children and babies.

This is a fashion show that will be led by the coordinator of Mujeres Aymaras de Peru, Justina Montalico, and will present the new CMA collection.

The entrance to the fashion show will be free and will start at 6:30 p.m.

In addition, there will be a cocktail for all attendees at the end of the event.

From the Ingenio Foundation, we want to bring the culture of these entrepreneurs to the Murcian community and develop the leadership and empowerment capacities of women in the Aymara communities of Puno, Peru, and that through this event, which celebrates its fourth anniversary, we managed to create an experience full of emotions.

We wait for you!
