The president of the Popular Party of the Region of Murcia, Fernando López Miras, regretted today that "the Government of Spain has turned its back on the Mar Menor by breaking its word with the Zero Discharge Plan" and has claimed to feel "cheated" because This was "a commitment that the Government of Spain transmitted to me personally when I met last month with the Minister of Ecological Transition."
"Faced with the defaults and empty words of the socialist government, from the PP we work in concrete actions and, in addition, we provide them with a budget", remarked López Miras, who explained "the interest that the recovery of the Mar Menor has for the Party Popular".
Thus, he said "this year we have 22 million euros collected in the 2019 budget project that will be approved next Friday".
"Concrete actions that include a series of priority measures and infrastructure improvements that ensure the preservation of the Mar Menor, so that we all continue to enjoy it," he added, adding that "we are getting results and recovering all the underwater flora and fauna of the Mar Menor ".
Firm bets by which the regional president of the training has been optimistic with the recovery of the salt lake because, as he explained, "despite torrential rains and the null action by the Government of Pedro Sanchez, who have paralyzed all the actions we had achieved such as the execution of the Zero Poured Plan or the actions in the different coastal areas, the ecological status of the Mar Menor is still good and much better than last year at this time. "
LĂ“PEZ MIRAS INAUGURATES THE NEW HEADQUARTERS OF THE PEOPLE'S PARTY
SAN PEDRO DEL PINATAR
The regional president of the PP has made these statements during the inauguration of the new headquarters of the party in San Pedro del Pinatar.
It is a building that has two floors and about 100 square meters of surface that López Miras has visited with the mayor of the municipality, Visitación Martínez.
In this regard and after inaugurating it, the president stressed that "this new headquarters is open to all those from Pinar del Rio that want to join a project of hope and the future, the Popular Party project, in which we all join together to make San Pedro the municipality that your neighbors need. "
For its part, the mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitation Martinez, said that "the important thing is not this comfortable building where we will work from today, but the PP project to attend the upcoming elections in May and where we will develop the machine of ideas that will shape our future project ", a project that -according to Martínez-" will make a municipality more modern and more sustainable, a San Pedro full of opportunities and progress for its neighbors ".
The mayor of San Pedro has dedicated in his speech, emotional words to the former mayor of the PP, José Ballester, after his death on Sunday, a day that has defined "sad for all the people" but has remarked, "I'm sure that he will be proud to see us happy to inaugurate this new headquarters, because the PP family is joined by bonds of truth. "
This year we have 22 million more investments to achieve the total recovery of the Mar Menor and continue improving it.
This money, collected in the budget project to be approved next Friday, includes a series of priority actions and infrastructure improvements that ensure the preservation of the Mar Menor, as well as improvement so that we all continue to enjoy it.
Despite the torrential rains and the lack of action on the part of the Government of Pedro Sánchez, which have paralyzed all the actions we had achieved such as the execution of the Zero Discharge Plan or the actions in the different coastal areas, the ecological state of the Mar Menor continues being good and much better than last year at this time.
That makes us optimistic, although we remain very vigilant.
We are getting results and recovering all the underwater flora and fauna of the Mar Menor
A clear example of the recovery we have this summer, when the lagoon withstood the rise in temperatures maintaining levels of transparency, turbidity, nutrients and chlorophyll much lower than in the summer of 2017. Transparency, for example, was at end of that summer of 2017 around a meter, while during the months of July and August of this year we have been around 4.5 and 5 meters steadily.
And we just checked it just a few weeks ago, after the storms registered in the area at the end of November.
Those heavy rains generated an increase in turbidity and a decrease in transparency, but immediately, and thanks to a special surveillance and monitoring protocol that we launched, we could see how the ecosystem of the Mar Menor was able to self-regulate and recover the values previous to those episodes of rains.
During the days when the storms occurred, the transparency dropped to 3.84 meters, but only a week later it was already above 4.5 meters and the last measurements, carried out on December 3, show that we are again above five meters.
(tomorrow I will have new information)
It is therefore about some data, and especially a behavior of this ecosystem, very positive and that have had their reflection in the recovery of the flora and fauna of the Mar Menor.
