The documentary project Memories Crossed is a joint work of the Bank of the Pinatarense Wisdom, of the council of Citizen Participation, and the association AIKE Mar Menor, with the objective of paying homage to the elderly as oral source of the most recent past of the municipality.
The municipal tent of San Pedro del Pinatar hosted on Sunday, December 16, the screening of the fifth edition of the documentary Memories Crossed, a work by the Department of Citizen Participation, through the project of the Bank of the Wisdom Pinatarense, in collaboration with the AIKE Mar Menor cultural association.
This project was created in 2012 with the aim of treasuring the oral sources of the recent history of San Pedro del Pinatar and, since then, five documentaries have been compiled that collect the testimonies and memories of 23 protagonists, residents of the municipality over 65 years of age. they have wanted, in a generous and disinterested way, to share their experiences to elaborate this audiovisual archive about the evolution of the town since the first half of the 20th century.
The fifth edition of Memories Crossed gathers the experiences and experiences of Francisco Luis Gómez García, "Paquico el del Quico", who ran one of the most traditional bars in the municipality, with its 2000 jugs, jars and its specialties in michirones and tapas.
His life story will move the viewer to remember the popular games, his time at school, mule trips to Jumilla to bring wine, military service, the dance of the Palmira, or the peñas de San Pedro youth of the time .
Another protagonist is Conchita Escudero Moya, who ran with her husband the bar Capri, and tells her anecdotes of childhood making dolls, how she got, after the 70 her longed for Mariquita Perez, her stage at school, her acting skills in the theater to raise funds for the processions, the floral games, her wedding, how she learned from scratch to cook to get ahead, along with her husband, the business, and the brotherhood that was in the guild of the hotel business at the time.
For his part, Pedro Antonio García Campillo, 'Pedrín', baker and confectioner, tells his stage at the school of Lo Pagán, his learnings as an altar boy, the time of military service and the benefits that he reported being part of the football team or how it transformed and expanded the confectionery business.
The last of the protagonists is Antonio Ferrer Ortiz, merchant of the municipality at the head for decades of a lingerie, which tells his childhood in the field, vespa trips during his courtship, his involvement in Holy Week, linked to the Holy Sepulcher, and how much
that young people of the time had fun in San Pedro del Pinatar.
From the hand of these four protagonists, the attendees were able to get to know the everyday, the unofficial history, the anecdotes and relations between neighbors of the municipality, thus discovering the local history in an entertaining way, recovering the memory of the people to transmit it to future generations.
The event, attended by around 350 people, featured the young soprano Amber Kay, who delighted the audience with her performance.
To conclude, the mayoress, Visitación Martínez and the councilor of Participación Ciudadana, Fuensanta García, thanked the participants for their contribution to this project by giving them a personalized copy of the documentary.
