This aid has been awarded to nine athletes from different disciplines such as canoeing, squash, wrestling, chess or athletics, based on the results obtained in recent years.
The mayoress of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitación Martínez, accompanied by the councilor of Sports, Javier, has delivered nine individual grants, for a global value of 5,000 euros to athletes from Pinar del Rio, who have excelled in different disciplines in recent years.
Visitación Martínez highlighted the achievements obtained nationally and internationally by young people from Pinar del Rio in different disciplines such as squash, canoeing, athletics, greco-roman wrestling or chess, and reiterated the City Council's commitment to continue rewarding the effort and perseverance of these athletes;
as well as to promote the sport from the base in any of its modalities.
For his part, the Councilor for Sports, Javier Castejón, has listed the achievements of the awarded athletes.
Highlights the results of Moussaine Mouthair, who receive a grant of 800 euros and was first in the Championship of Spain held in July 2017 in Asturias, in the modality of C1 1000 meters, in addition to a fourth place in the Under 23 World Championship held in July 2017 in Romania, in the modality of C2 1000 meters, eleventh in the Senior World Championship held in the Czech Republic in August 2017, in C2 500 meters, and 13th in that same championship in C1 5000 meters.
The athleteDarío Romeroha obtained 688 euros for his sporting results of the last season, being champion in the modality of 400 meters outdoors in the combined championships for children and cadets of the Region of Murcia, in the absolute and in the Junior and Promises of the Region, among other regional appointments, besides second in the absolute championship of the Region of Murcia in 800 meters outdoors.
The champion of Spain absolute squashCristina Gómezha obtained an aid of 630 euros for their results, among which the Spanish championship stands out, in addition to the ninth position the individual European championship, in August 2017 and the same position in the championship of national teams, held in May 2018 in Poland.
Also in canoeing, Lázaro López de Haroha received a subsidy of 543 euros.
It stands out his performance in the regional Championship held in February 2018 where he finished second in the senior category in K1 5000 meters, in addition to his participation in the European Sprint Junior Championship, held in Serbia in June 2017, where he finished in eleventh position in K1 200 meters.
Adrián García, squash player, also receives 526 euros, for his sporting merits, being sub-champion of Europe under 15 in May 2018 in Sweden, second in the Spanish championship under 15 and fifth in the Spanish championship under 17.
On the other hand, Fernando Nicolás Patón, gets 523 euros for his results in Greco-Roman wrestling, highlighting his first place in the Spanish Children's championship and fifth place in cadet category, in 68 kilos.
In addition, to be an autonomous children's champion and cadet champion, in the same weight, in the regional competition held in March in Murcia.
Francisco Luengo received 455 euros for his first place in C1 5000 meters in the regional championship of canoeing held in February 2018 and third place in C1 200 meters in the Spanish Sprint Olympic Championship held in Galicia in July 2017.
On the other hand, the chess player Rebeca Jiménez, obtains 428 euros for being regional champion sub 14, ninth in the championship of Spain sub 14 and seventh in the Championship of Spain sub 14 fast.
In addition, by equipment it reached its third position in the championship of Espña sub 14 of regional selections.
Finally, the canoeist Pablo Sanchez Sanchez, gets 407 euros, after being second in the cadet category in K1 1000 meters in the championship of Spain 1000 meters Young Promised and fourth in the same category in K1 5000 meters in the championship of Spain 5000 in the championship Young Promises of Spain.
