The mayor, Visitación Martínez, defends the need to undertake the works that are being carried out in the town because they respond to the general interest and the improvement of municipal services.
The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar Visitation Martinez has reiterated the need to undertake the works currently carried out in the town, such as the remodeling of the urban center, the renewal of the network of collectors and the improvement of the supply network of drinking water, since it is "priority actions for the locality that affect basic services and that respond to the general interest of the locality".
Thus, he recalled that the work of the urban center, with a budget close to two million euros, includes the comprehensive reform of the squares of Spain and the Constitution, the surrounding streets, and the avenues Emilio Castelar and Artero Guirao in their sections central, with the aim of converting them into a more accessible, modern and adapted to the needs of both the commerce and the neighbors of the town, explained the mayor.
Regarding the renovation of the sanitation network, Visitación Martínez has stressed the need to carry out this action "as it is a collector with considerable antiquity, where there were bottlenecks and leaks in the network" and recalled that this work, carried out by the Autonomous Community, will benefit 200 blocks of homes and individual residences that will see improvements in their household connections and storm water drainage.
The mayor has also defended the renovation works of the potable water supply network, since thanks to them, almost 44.8 kilometers of pipeline, 1,855 meters of sewer lines and 3,770 residential connections will be replaced, which will result in the improved service and water pressure in more than 5,000 homes, benefiting 11,370 residents.
Thus, Visitación Martínez added that these figures show that the works are necessary and that they will benefit the whole population of San Pedro del Pinatar.
Regarding the accusations of the group Citizens for the coincidence of these works, the mayor has considered that the irresponsible thing would be to cut the main road of the town for the works of the center, finish it before and then reopen it for the replacement of collectors " logical is to make them compatible instead of dilate them in time ".
The mayor has concluded that "the spokesman of Citizens is the only one who wants to obtain political revenue with these works, with its continuous attacks on the Government Team, ignoring the times and complexity of the development of works of this magnitude and showing once more its ignorance in the reality of municipal management ".
