The Museum of the Sea, dependent on the Fishermen's Association of San Pedro del Pinatar, shows since February 23 the exhibition "Historical Cartography of the Region of Murcia", organized with the collaboration of the municipal museum Baron de Benifayó, dependent of the council of Culture, and the Friends of Museums Association.
The exhibition is made up of 28 cartographic documents from 1796 to the end of the 70s of the 20th century of the entire Region, although those of the Mar Menor region and the Campo de Cartagena stand out and are carried out with different tasks, from postal maps and of telegraphs, military, of navigation, of the Bishopric or that they pick up the orography of the huerta of Murcia.
These documents come from the funds of both museums, assignments to the Friends of Museums Association, and the collaboration of individuals such as José Ramón Henarejos or Antonio Ballester.
The Councilor for Culture, Silvia Egea, the senior patron of the fishermen's brotherhood, Jesús Gómez, the general director of the General Air Academy, Miguel Ivorra, and the directors of the Museum of the Sea, Benito Pérez, and Barón de Benifayó, Marcos David Gracia, inaugurated this exhibition that can be visited until March 8.
