Nine establishments in the Region of Murcia have joined this network, which represents an increase of 600 percent in the number of establishments in the Community with this distinction.

The Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, Adela Martínez Cachá, along with the mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, and the general directors of Youth, Fran Sánchez and Tourism, Manuel Fernández-Delgado, visited the facilities of the San Pedro del Pinatar hostel , where the incorporation of nine establishments of the Region to the Spanish Network of Youth Hostels has been announced.

"This increase is very important, since we give tourism a boost in hostels and we encourage our Region to know more about our borders, we have some establishments for young people that match the quality offered by the Region in hotels and in unique locations" said the counselor during the visit.

In this way, the number of places in this type of establishment goes from 139 places in the two already existing shelters, which are El Valle, located in the natural park of Valle-Carrascoy (Murcia), with 52 places, and the youth hostel of Calarreona (Águilas), to 809 places, with an increase of 670 places more for this year.

With these additions, the youth hostels of the Region will be able to offer more than 80,000 overnight stays per year, compared to 16,000 in 2018.

Among the new centers incorporated into the Network are the shelters of the Tualberguejt coast (San Pedro del Pinatar), with 132 seats;

Residence Las Claras del Mar Menor (Los Alcázares), 63 seats;

the Bea Beach Hostel, located in Puerto Juan Montiel (Águilas), with 67 seats;

Hostel Isla del Fraile (Águilas), with 40 seats;

and the hostel Puntas de Calnegre (Lorca), with 48 seats.

On the other hand, Visitación Martínez highlighted the quality of the facilities of the San Pedro del Pinatar Hostel, which has 132 seats, a cafeteria bar, three multipurpose rooms, common areas and was recently remodeled, with a new heated pool and climbing wall.
