The City Council last night received the Call for Streets to be able to process the Superior Council of Fraternities and Brotherhoods of Holy Week, a traditional event in which it was also announced that the town crier will be Juan José Castejón and the appointment as Antonio Lorenzo's procession of the year.
The representatives of the brotherhoods and brotherhoods of San Pedro del Pinatar, escorted by the Roman third and the band of cornets and drums of La Virgen de La Piedad, procession last night to the Town Hall to ask the mayor, Visitación Martínez, the streets of the location.
At the ceremony, which is traditionally celebrated on Ash Wednesday, with the beginning of Lent, the mayor gave the streets to the General Council of Groups to process, as well as the announcement of the annual subsidy to the Easter brotherhoods, with a amount of 55,000 euros.
During the event, Visitación Martínez highlighted "the 69 years of processions in San Pedro del Pinatar and the constant and dedicated work of all those people who are part of the Holy Week in Pinar del Rio".
For his part, the president of the Cabildo Superior de Fraternities and Brotherhoods of Holy Week, Mariano Visedo, encouraged to live this era with "a brother's heart and evangelizing spirit".
The poster announcing Holy Week was also presented, an image of the throne of La Virgen de La Piedad, by the sculptor Ribera Girona, in an image of the local photographer Blas Escudero.
In addition, Mariano Visedo also reported that José Castejón will be in charge of proclaiming Holy Week and that the appointment of processionist of the year has fallen this year in Antonio Lorenoz.
The act of handing in the streets concluded with a prayer, under the charge of the parish priest of the town, Roberto Burgos, and the offering of a laurel wreath at the monument to the Nazarene, located in the renovated plaza of La Constitución and which pays homage to the work of the deceased Pinatarenses who were part of Holy Week in the municipality.
