The City of San Pedro del Pinatar, through the Department of Social Welfare, in collaboration with the Health Center and local dentists, are carrying out a program to educate and raise awareness in the oral health self-care from the childhood in schools.
On the occasion of the World Day of Oral Health, which is celebrated on March 20, this quarter is conducting an informative campaign in schools, aimed at children aged 5 to 7 years, with the aim of promoting the benefits of a healthy mouth and healthy habits in oral health since childhood.
This campaign, which is part of the activities of the Ciudad Amiga de la Infancia program, is coordinated by the Department of Social Welfare, in collaboration with the Health Center and eight local dentists, who are conducting educational talks to 1,000 schoolchildren in the city. locality of infant education and first cycle of primary school.
The mayor of the town, Visitación Martínez, who has attended one of these talks today, explained that the goal of this campaign is to educate and raise awareness of oral health care from childhood, so that children know the main aspects related to health and oral function, problems and the most common causes of illness and its consequences for general health.
Visitación Martínez thanked the involvement of the educational community, as well as the collaboration of health professionals from both the health center and private clinics that have volunteered to participate in this activity altruistically.
In addition to the informative lectures, a tooth cleaning kit has been distributed among primary school students and for children of children, several copies of the story "To brush your teeth" have been donated to the centers, a material that will also be donated to the professionals of the Health Center.
The professionals who are doing the informative talks are the nurse Noelia Oltra, the dental hygienist María Belén Espinosa, and the dentists Pedro Javier Sánchez, Pablo Arán, Hilario Tárraga, Luis Miguel Sánchez, Miguel Barreal, Miguel Gallego, Ana Nieves García, and María Bernal.
