The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitación Martínez, and the councilman of Sports of the town, Javier Castejón, have received today the local athletes Sonia Gomez Heredia and Bienvenido Ballester, both runners-up in Spain by age groups in the Spanish Championship of Duathlon celebrated last April 14 in Soria.
Thus, Bienvenido Ballester, which competes with Industrias TEQ Triathlon Archena, achieved the second place in the 20-24 category and third place in the general classification, with a time of 1:00:57, in a tight final that defined the podium with a difference of just 9 seconds between the first three classified.
On the other hand Sonia Heredia, of CT Murcia Unidata, was runner-up in Spain in 35-40 years, using a time of 1:16:37, with which she also obtained a commendable 14th position in the general classification.
The mayor praised the good results of these pinatarenses athletes, who gave a gift from the City Council, and wished them luck for their next appointment, the World Multiategory Triathlon Championship to be held in Pontevedra next weekend.
