The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitación Martínez, and Benito Pérez, head of the Museum of the Sea, dependent of the brotherhood of fishermen, today inaugurated the exhibition of murals on the Boba Turtle made by schoolchildren in the fifth grade town.
This exhibition is part of the informative project that has been developed by the Museum of the Sea, in collaboration with the City Council, so that schoolchildren know the loggerhead turtle and the need to protect it, through the history of a specimen of this species who has been in the museum for more than 35 years.
Thus, after a didactic visit to the museum of the sea, the children of the fifth grade of Nuestra Señora del Carmen, Los Antolinos, Maspalomas, Los Pinos, San Pedro Apóstol and New Castelar College, have presented their name proposals through several murals for this turtle, besides influencing the need to protect this species.
On June 1 the jury will announce the name chosen for this turtle in a day of coexistence in the park of La Aduana which will be attended by the 300 children who have visited the museum as part of this activity.
