The Barón de Benifayó museum hosts until July 29 this exhibition in which you can see electoral posters and political programs of the different parties that have attended the 11 local elections since 1979.
The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitación Martínez, and the representative of the Friends of Museums Association, Darío Quesada, presented yesterday the exhibition '40 years of democracy in San Pedro del Pinatar ', which includes posters of the candidacies of different parties politicians in the 11 municipal elections convened since 1979.
Throughout these 40 years, a total of 47 candidates from 17 different political parties have attended the different elections.
Thus, in the exhibition you can see posters and programs of different acronyms, some of them already disappeared, others of regionalist stamp, as well as parties of local stamp.
We found posters and electoral programs of UCD, Democratic Coalition, PSOE, Popular Alliance, Candidature Independent Grouping of Voters, Popular Democratic Party, United Left, Popular Party, Pinatar Option, Murcianist Party, UCPI, UPyD, Pinatarense Democracy, Now San Pedro, Citizens , Vox and Podemos.
Visitación Martínez pointed out the importance of this show to know and understand the recent history of San Pedro del Pinatar and added that it is also an acknowledgment to the hundreds of local residents that, since that first electoral appointment, on April 3, 1979, decided at some point in his life, take a step forward to be part of public life in any of these political candidacies.
The mayor also recalled that in these four decades have been five mayors who have assumed the local government of the City of San Pedro del Pinatar, a time in which they have faced major changes in a society in constant transformation.
For his part, Darío Quesada highlighted the important work of documentation that has involved a year of work to collect more than 40 posters and electoral programs and thanked the collaboration of political parties and individuals who have given the material exposed.
The exhibition, organized by the Department of Culture and the Friends of Museums Association, can be visited until next July 29 in the temporary exhibition hall of the Baron de Benifayó Municipal Museum.
