The Unit of beaches, formed by eight agents, will be in charge of the surveillance of the area of ​​sand and of the sea promenades of the locality from June 28 to September 8.
The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitación Martínez, and the councilwoman of Police, Ángela Gaona, have presented the Beach Police Unit of the town, which for the fourth consecutive year will monitor the coastal line of the municipality.
Visitación Martínez explained that this police unit "is a pioneer and unique in the Region of Murcia" and is part of the actions aimed at bringing the local police closer to the citizen, offering a more effective, direct and accessible service.
He also highlighted the good result that this unit is giving since its launch four years ago.
This operation is launched on Saturday June 28 until September 9 and is composed of a corporal and seven local police officers, who will monitor the 13 kilometers of coast of San Pedro del Pinatar, as well as the different seafront promenades of the location.
The agents of this unit use bicycles as a means of transport, in addition to an off-road vehicle and two quad, which facilitate access to the different beach areas.
The Playas unit is responsible for 10 hours a day, seven days a week, for the surveillance of both the sand area and the promenades, carrying out an important preventive and citizen information work.
During the summer of 2018, the Beach Unit carried out 3090 citizen assistance actions, 119 sanctions related to the ordinance of use and enjoyment of the beaches, 43 complaints for breach of the Citizen Security Law;
400 traffic infractions and 123 identifications, in addition to collaborating with Civil Protection in other actions.
