The Association has acquired three scooters that will be added to other adapted material that provides temporary assistance to people with reduced mobility or convalescents of some surgical process.
The Mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitación Martínez, and the president of the regional committee of Red Cross Mar Menor North, Manuel Leal, today presented the expansion of the service of ortoprosthetic bank that manages this association, with the acquisition of three adapted vehicles type scooter, financed through a municipal subsidy 4,327 euros.
Manuel Leal explained that this endowment expands the support products with which Red Cross has to offer this temporary loan service, which also includes the scooter, walkers, crutches, wheelchairs, articulated beds, bath chair, etc.
The president of Red Cross Mar Menor Norte explained that to access the loan, the interested parties must make an appointment with the Social Intervention service of the association, whose headquarters is located on Zurbarán Street.
Thus, the situation of each applicant will be assessed and advice will also be given on the most appropriate support products;
these elements will be provided for a maximum period of three months.
For its part, Visitación Martínez explained that this project is part of the assistance from the Department of Citizen Participation are offered to initiatives of local associations of socio-sanitary interest, which in 2019 amounted to 26,161 euros (24,661 endowed by the City Council and 1,500 donated by the LaCaixa Foundation).
Thus, this Red Cross project is framed between the seven initiatives of different associations subsidized by projects of socio-sanitary interest.
