This documentary project by Julio Daniel Suárez Espinosa is part of the Reset project: Mar Menor Laboratory of imaginaries for a landscape in crisis and in which the life, memories, experiences and customs of the fishermen of the lagoon are addressed.

The fish market of Lo Pagán hosted last night the screening of the documentary "Memories of the Mar Menor", by Julio Daniel Suárez Espinosa, framed in the program of the feast of the Virgen del Carmen and that has had the collaboration of the Fishermen's Association and the Tourism Department of San Pedro del Pinatar, among other organizations.

Thus, around 200 people enjoyed the viewing of this documentary project by Julio Daniel Suárez, research fellow of the Reset project: Mar Menor Laboratory of imaginaries for a landscape in crisis and that constitutes his Final Degree Project (TFG) in the Degree of Audiovisual Communication of the Faculty of Communication and Documentation of the University of Murcia.

This is a proposal that addresses life, memories, experiences, customs of the fishing community of the Mar Menor, therefore, this work has been carried out with the collaboration of the Fishermen's Association of San Pedro del Pinatar and under a anthropological and sociocultural perspective.

The author explained that the objective of the same is to generate new imaginaries around the lagoon, through the renewal of the image and the icons associated with the group of fishermen of the Mar Menor, knowing the environment for its close relationship with the Mar Menor, a through their knowledge and knowledge.

It also intends to carry out an exercise of memory and archive of the testimonies of this group, key in the development and history of the town and the Mar Menor, In this framework, issues such as the generational gap in the fishing sector, the poaching, the invasion of the blue crab, previous crises that have affected the lagoon and the fishing, the tourist pressure in the summer, the love and the longing of the most veteran by the sea, or the tradition and devotion for the Pilgrimage of the Virgin of Carmen among others.
