The residents of El Mojón, located between San Pedro del Pinatar and Pilar de la Horadada, celebrated yesterday, August 16, the festival of San Roque with the procession of its image, carried on the shoulders by women from the coastal village and accompanied by dozens of people who toured the streets of this urban center.
As planned, at 20:00 a campaign mass was celebrated in honor of San Roque on the esplanade, which was attended by dozens of neighbors, the Mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitación Martínez, the councilor of Festejos, Javier Castejón, along with several councilors of this town and mayor and councilors of Pilar de la Horada, in addition to members of the Association of neighbors and queens parties.
After the campaign mass, a rociero group formed by women, "flamenco de El Mojón" danced, for the first time, a salve to the Virgen del Carmen in honor of San Roque.
The Mojón festivities began on August 12 with various activities, which have included children's games, routes, competitions, markets, fencing workshops, screen printing, zumba or aquagym, soccer championships, festivals, etc.
The day concluded on the esplanade with a flamenco show by the Raque Peña Dance Academy where Antonio Muñoz acted, who, with only 15 years, recently won first place in flamenco dance, individual cadet category, in the European final of the Dancing Stars 'Live your dream' contest, held in Rome.
