The nautical clubs of Lo Pagán, Villa de San Pedro and Marina de las Salinas host the sixth edition of a nautical meeting that brings together dozens of historic sailing ships from different points of the Spanish geography.
The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitación Martínez, the promoter of the event, Andrés Sánchez, the admiral of the arsenal of Cartagena, Don Aniceto Rosique, and the president of the Sailing Federation of the Region, Arturo Pallarés, today inaugurated the VI Classic of the Mar Menor, which runs from September 6 to 9 in the municipality.
This traditional sailing festival is also part of the extensive program of coordinated activities to commemorate the V Centenary of the First World Tour of Fernando Magallanes and Juan Sebastián Elcano, considered an event of exceptional public interest.
This event has its main "village" in the Lo Pagán yacht club, where you can see about thirty classic boats, many of them centuries old, coming from different parts of Spain, such as Galicia, the Basque country or the Balearic Islands, as well as a wide representation of the regional fleet of small length.
In this yacht club, information booths of the Museum of the Sea have also been installed, where you can see recreations of traditional fishing gear, the Aquaculture training module, which is taught at the IES Manuel Tárraga Escribano and Mar Menor.
The second course of regattas will be in the Mediterranean, since the boats of greater length are located in the nautical clubs Villa de San Pedro and Marina de las Salinas, which add 11 classic and vintage boats.
During the weekend the program will include regattas and crossings, in addition to the permanent exhibition that will allow you to enjoy this floating museum throughout the weekend.
