The Government team includes in the Fiscal Ordinances for 2020 the reduction or bonus of five taxes and municipal taxes, with the objective of reducing the taxation of taxpayers and encouraging the generation of employment and commercial activity.
The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitación Martínez, and the councilor of the Treasury, José Fernández, have informed today in a press conference of the proposal to modify the Fiscal Ordinances for 2020 that will be discussed in the plenary session next Thursday, 3 October, and that today has been ruled favorably by the Accounts Commission.
This tax reform translates into the reduction of five municipal taxes, highlighting the 99% bonus of the Tax on Construction, facilities and works (ICIO) for those reforms that are carried out in homes or businesses that were affected by the storm last month of September.
The mayor has indicated that the Public Way Occupancy rate for tables and chairs in general will also be reduced to 99%, so that the hoteliers and merchants of the town must pay a symbolic price for the installation of their terraces.
Visitation Martínez has added that this measure will contribute to supporting hospitality and small local commerce, a key sector for the economic development of the municipality.
Also with this objective and to favor the transmission of homes and family businesses, the capital gain will be rewarded 95% (Tax on the increase of the value of urban land), in the event of death of a direct family member, both for housing as for premises subject to some business activity.
In these reforms of the fiscal ordinances for the next fiscal year, the general bonus of 30% for hybrid and electric vehicles is also contemplated, to promote this clean energy and reduce emissions in San Pedro del Pinatar.
The tax rate of the Property Tax (IBI), which is set at 0.61, is also adjusted for another year, two points less than in 2019. The mayor recalled that since 2013 the City Council adjusted the IBI tax rate, which has gone from 0.80 to 0.61 in this period, with the objective of compensating the revision of the cadastral value of the dwellings.
"This reduction of municipal taxes responds to the commitment made with the residents of the municipality to relieve tax pressure by the City Council to the maximum and favor economic activity, following the path undertaken in 2011 of general freezing of municipal taxes and fees", The mayor has concluded.
