The Edukalo program, established seven courses in San Pedro del Pinatar, is based on socio-educational workshops, school reinforcement, in addition to academic monitoring.
The mayor of San Pedro del Pinatar, Visitación Martínez, and the president of the Autonomous Federation of Gypsy Associations (FAGA) in the Valencian Community, Ramón Fernández Fernández, today signed a collaboration agreement for the development of the Edukalo educational support program, in collaboration with the departments of Education and Volunteering.
Under this agreement, the Edukalo plan is included in the measures of the Municipal Plan for the Prevention and Control of Absenteeism (PAE), through six-week socio-educational workshops with gypsy children and mediation with centers and families.
For the development of these workshops, which are developed at the Center for Leisure and Emerging Arts, FAGA has the collaboration of the Local Volunteering plan, through the university volunteer project.
In addition, the Department of Education will donate school supplies for the work of children included in this program.
Visitation Martínez has highlighted the good result obtained over the years by this program among Roma students in San Pedro del Pinatar, which, globally, amounts to more than 200 children and young people enrolled at different educational levels.
